How much caffeine is in one SHESH 200 candy?
200 mg, from green tea extract. That's the caffeine of about 2.5 espressi, in a 3.5 g candy. A pack contains 15 candies = 5714 mg of caffeine.
How many can I have in a day?
Two, maximum - that's 400 mg of caffeine. EFSA considers up to 200 mg in one go and up to 400 mg across a whole day unproblematic for healthy adults. If you've had two candies, you've had your caffeine for the day, coffee and energy drinks excluded.
How long does a pack last?
Fifteen candies. It really depends on what you use them for. If you have two events per week where you need an extra boost of energy, one pack will last you roughly two months.
How long does it take to work, and how long does it last?
You will feel the first effect within a few minutes because it is absorbed through the mucous membranes rather than the stomach, thanks to the candy format. Caffeine generally reaches peak blood concentration around 30 to 45 minutes after intake, and the body clears roughly half of it in four to six hours. Take one 20 to 30 minutes before you need it, and remember that one taken at 11 p.m. is still measurably in your system at 4 a.m.
Is it bitter?
Caffeine is bitter by nature and we built the sweet mint and menthol around it. Whether you taste it is largely genetic - bitter receptors vary enormously between people. Some testers taste nothing at all, others notice it clearly. Most people stop noticing after a few.
Is it synthetic caffeine?
No. The caffeine comes from a caffeine-rich green tea extract. No synthetic caffeine is added.
Does it contain sugar?
No sugar is added. It's sweetened with isomalt and sucralose.
Are caffeine candy, caffeine mints and caffeine chews the same thing?
They overlap. Caffeine chews are meant to be chewed, caffeine mints are usually low-dose breath mints with caffeine added, and caffeine lozenges dissolve slowly. SHESH is a lozenge-style caffeine candy at 200 mg, which is several times the dose of a typical caffeine mint.
